A Very Popular Couple + Coffee

Aikane Plantation Coffee is 100% Hawaiian gourmet coffee, grown on our family estate located on the slopes of majestic Mauna Loa Mountain in the District of Ka’u.

Their coffee is grown in fertile volcanic soil with just the right amount of Hawaiian sunshine. After the coffee cherries are pulped, the beans are high pressure washed to remove the mucilage. The beans are then put into a vat with water to ferment over night. The following morning they are pressure washed again to remove the fermentation. After the beans are thoroughly washed they are placed on a screen to remove the excess water. When dried to the touch, the beans are removed from the screens and placed on wooden drying racks where they are dried by the Hawaiian sun to our specific moisture content. Next the beans are roasted to a Medium-Dark Roast and immediately placed in sealed foil bags. To insure freshness, each bag has a one-way valve to keep freshness in and air out.

“My wife, Merle is the 5th generation of family to live in Hawaii. Her great grandfather started growing coffee in 1894. In 1998, over 100 years after the first trees were planted we started Aikane Plantation Coffee Co.

“Gift Baskets are a popular item.  We can put together virtually any combination of Aikane Plantation coffee, 1#, 1/2/#, chocolate covered peaberries, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, coffee cups, or coffee tumblers.   Just let us know what you’d like and we’ll put it together for you, and ship it in a USPS flat rate box.”

  1. Aikane Plantation Coffee is hands down the best and most interesting coffee we’ve ever bought. We’ve made it our only coffee now. It has a wonderful tropical aroma and a fresh roasted flavor with none of the acid aftertaste some Hawaiian coffees have. We recommend it to anyone who enjoys really good coffee!–2Oregon coffee lovers.

  3. Really good coffee! Drink as many cups as you want and you won’t feel any acidity. It is the only coffee I drink at home. And the chocolate covered nuts and peaberries are so great!

  4. Things we enjoy about Aikane coffe:
    – the taste (tired of the strong, bitter stuff from commercial outlets?
    – 100% Kau coffee, not a mix or blend like a lot of “Kona” coffee that is as little as 10%.
    – The value. Compare what you get for what you pay for – no brainer!
    – Supporting the small, independent business enterprise where the whole operation is family run.

  7. My wife and I think this is the best coffee ever. There is no strong bitter after taste because Aikane is family owned and they do everything they can to get their coffee beans clean before roasting. This leaves the best French Roast coffee you can buy. Just check it out.

  9. We are from Hawaii but moved to the mainland and now reside in Gardnerville, Nevada. Up here the mornings are very cool so decided to start drinking coffee. We tried at least 10 different ones in the stores but never found the right one. We new the Beckers growed coffee in Kau so we called and ordered some from them.
Our order promptly arrived and we found our coffee. Their coffee is just so rich tasting and just so smooth.
Even the Kona coffee we tried placed a distant second

  10. We moved from Hawaii to Gardnerville, NV. The winters can get quite cold. We tried all different types of Coffee from Hawaii, and could not find anything we liked. We remembered tasting Merle and Phil’s ccffee. We ordered a couple of pounds from them. After the first cup, we were back in Hawaii. Since then, we have ordered seven more pounds. Everyday begins with a cup of aloha from Merle and Phil

  11. Phil and Merle’s Aikane coffee is THE best ever! We order it straight from Phil and Merle since we’re in Medford, OR and kind of far from the nearest source. We get several bags at a time and it lasts quite a while. Phil and Merle are so fast with the shipping that we’re never without that terrific coffee. We highly recommend it!

  15. My wife and I have traveled throughout the world and we definately need our coffee fix in the morning. We don’t like washed out coffee of the type we grew up with or coffee that eats out your stomach. Our favorite coffee is that which we found in Maylasia (a redish brown chocolate sort of taste ) and the coffee from Aikane Platation. The Aikane coffee is full body and is not acidic like a lot of coffee now days.

  16. Normally, I need cream and sweetener in my coffee, but Aikane coffee is so good and rich I can drink (and enjoy) it black. No bitterness at all. My husband and I have visited the plantation and seen the process. It’s as close to “organic” as you can get. We have given it as gifts several times and always get the same response…”Fabulous coffee!” We highly recommend it.

  17. Someone just gave us some coffee from a well know store. It was coffee from Rwanda. As I was grinding this coffee, I made a comment to my wife that it could not hold a candle to Aikane Coffee because Aikane Coffee beans are very clean and these Rwanda coffee beans where not. So if you are looking for that clean coffee taste buy Aikane Coffee.
