> March 2010:  4th Installment

Dr. Charles Sanders is director of Christian Works Hawaii a non-profit organization with a sincere desire to help Veterans in need and too often forgotten by mainstream society and the bureaucratic system.  Dr. Sanders is a remarkable man and we are grateful for his life’s work to help others .   He is consistently involved with community leaders to ensure our Veterans have the help they need.   It is  important to note that he also assists non-veterans in filing social security claims. On Sundays, Dr. Sanders can be found at the Farmers Market in Makuu.

Born in Kentucky, he now lives in Hawaii with his family.  Once a tenth grade dropout and candidate for juvenile detention, today he is a Ph.D and a DCC in counseling and communications, as well as a D.Th (doctor of theology).  Before Dr. Sanders was called to the ministry he served for 17 years in the Marine Corps, including three tours of Vietnam; he returned to the States with substantial wounds.

Today, Dr. Sanders has been ordained not just as a minister but as a bishop in his church, and additionally is involved with the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

He asked us to help spread the word to our island Veterans that they are NOT forgotten and for everyone to remember and honor the services of our military, always.   Contact Dr. Sanders here. Suggested reading are two of Dr. Sanders books – titled “Making of a Minister” and “Psychology vs. Christianity“.

Dr. Sanders can also be found at the Farmers Market in Makuu.

ReallyHawaiian.com salutes you Dr. Sanders for your worth contributions and continuing support of our Veterans.

He `opu halau -  Said of a person who is kind, gracious, and hospitable.

Well I kinda seen things form up for Chuck here in Keaau, and I’ll tell ya he’ is getting work done, and the kinda work that no one else in the area has even attempted to do. I have always been an advocate of the American Veteran and have had many many WWII veterans as friends and mentors and always reached out a hand and my heart to them, and they to me, including many veteran menbers of the American/japanese intellegence corps from WWII. Who as we know, fought against the Japanese most bravely and friecely and at the same time had there families, here in the USA., put in concentratrion camps! They gave it all for this country and were always loyal, and remain loyal to this very day. Bless them!….And you ! know Dr Chuck Sanders is the same way. His loyalty and never ending assisstance to his country and fellows is comprable to that which I have witnessed in my dear Japanese/American friends. And I am eternally grateful to Dr.C.E Sanders USMC. and them. May God hold their hearts on high and give all eternal peace. Amen !

  • I wish to express my sincerest Thnks to all those wha have reached out and supported my efforts to assist other. Those of you that do not know how to make donations or reach me, you can reach me through really hawaiian .com or PO Box 1437, Kurtistown, Hawaii 96760 or at the Hilo Farmers market on Saturday, or Makuu Farmers market on Sundays, I pray this will touch your hearts and inspire you to write out that check!

Dr. Chuck has been a great help/reference to not only my father, but also to me. My father and I are both disabled vets. Having a person like Dr. Sanders has been paramount to our successful integration and understanding of how to cope with the physical and mental wounds that vets like us have had to endure.

Dr. Chuck willingly donates his time and efforts to help those struggling to adjust and/or cope with the bi-products that come from serving this great country of ours. If you are a vet and feel as if you are not receiving the answers or the solace that you deserve, please DO NOT hesitate in contacting Dr. Sanders.

Rock Steady, Dr. Sanders. Keep on fighting the Good Fight!!
