Hawaii’s Veterans – November Edition
To our local veterans
By DR. Chuck
This is the first in a series of articles and information for our Veterans in Hawaii
For several years I have worked with the veteran population here on the Big Island. Many of which have put off filing a claim with the Veterans Administration because of the maze of paperwork involved. Well, that is where my lovely woman and I come into play; we do all that paperwork for you. There are still a multitude of folks living in the boonies that suffer silently. This is not necessary, I am here to take you through the steps and it is not something that is a give me, you have paid the price through your personal sacrifice.
In the past few months we have met several of you at the market in Makuu and Hilo and many have contacted us though others passing the word. My better half and right hand is Maraia the good looking gal a Waianae girl who serves coffee at the Makuu Farmers market and I am the big ugly guy that sells knives, my self published books and soon Tahitian drums made locally by our friend Alofa. You cannot miss us just ask anyone at the market.
My personal mission on this journey called life is to serve those in need. I am blessed to have Really Hawaiian take a broad leap of faith and allow me to write a column reaching out to all those in need. We specialize in veterans claims and social security claims, but we also do personal counseling and I am a registered Counselor and have a Doctorates in Counseling, and have done bereavement counseling and domestic counseling. Really Hawaiian did a wonderful article in September introducing me. We are not suits working for the bureaucratic system, instead Maraia and I feel we can be more productive and help more people of a diverse spread then having to serve the needs or desires of some agenda based organization. We chose to go non-profit. We are Christian Works Hawaii a 501 c 3 non-profit licensed and authorized to operate in Hawaii. We work strictly on donations, but if folks have nothing that will definitely not hinder the efforts we make to get you what is rightfully yours.
Way too often I meet folks that have long-term suffering, living off grid without running water, no electricity and some even in lean to tents or shacks. Some actually live among mainstream society but in the broad cracks in the system where they make jut a bit too much to qualify for many of the state benefits but too little to live any quality of life.
There are many that felt betrayed or seen too much and have a distrust of the system, I can relate!
I know how it feels to have sleepless nights filled with nightmares and what it feels like to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. I know how it is when we feel anger welling up inside of us for no obvious reason. I too have suffered feeling tired all the time and not wanting to leave our comfort zones not wanting to or even fearing crowds. I too have felt the desire to stay in my safe zone leaving only when absolutely necessary. I know what it is like to avoid relationships, to go from marriage to marriage and relationship- to- relationship never really being able to open up and not being able to retain the relationship. I know the feeling of being all- alone and wondering if I never awoke would anyone know or care?
We are willing and can help through filing claims for you, and networking, give us a chance! If not for yourself, do it for your family or loved ones. It is a fact we are getting older and aches and pains are beginning to manifest themselves in strange and painful ways.
Take a chance on us, se us at the market; write to us at DR. Chuck Sanders PO Box 1437, Kurtistown, HI 96760, email at asktherev@flex.com or call at 966 -5092. Let us set up an appointment with you to see what we can do to help, leave us a message if we are not at home, we will get back to you, or write to Really Hawaiian! Maybe your situation will cause others to open up and reach out. Let us make this column work for the people of the people!
Remember when you see me I am not real pretty and definitely not one of the pretty boy suits!

Dr Chuck,
Its about time we vet’s have someone on our side and not just someone working for the government ready to sweep us under the carpet. I really appreciate having a straight shooter on my side, the kind that will go the extra mile for you. God Bless You!

Dr. Chuck has been very helpful in navigating me through the bureaucratic maze. The VA paperwork was overwhelming me and now the SSDI paperwork is doing the same thing, but it’s nice to know that Chuck and Maraia are there to help. Keep up the good work!
Dr. Charles Sanders has been agreat help to me , he’s been helping me with my VA
case. also receives alot of call’s on phone for help.
What ,I’ve noticed is he has given alot of himself to help others and not asking anything in return for himself
thanks again,
Robert Garza
I am a 60% disabled vet, man how I wish someone like you was around when I decided to go through the process. It took my wife 8 years of prodding to get me to do it. I have to say if there are any of you out there hesitating about doing it don’t.
We needed somebody on the Big Island who understands all of this VA stuff. We found one and he is the greatest.
To all who served their country,
I would like your help in passing bills
H.r. 2254 and senate bill S-1939.
It’s for all who are sick and dying.from
agent orange Call your congressmen or women.
These people in Hawaii would be.

and Neil Abercrombie.
I have known Chuck my whole life, but then I would have because he is my cousin and my family. I am a U.S. Army veteran, and Chuck has given me good advice about some problems with the VA, and he has also given me sound, worthwhile, and caring advice during a time of personal loss and mourning when I needed it.
Call him, write him, or talk to him. If you need help, he is the man that can help you. And Maraia is stand up too! Both great people & family, very blessed, and good Marines!

You Give em” Bra!
Keep up the good wok Bradah!
I wish to express my sincerest Thanks to DR Sanders for all his help with the veterans work.
I sincerely appreciate what DR Sanders is doing, especially in the local veterans department. If not for DR Sanders I believe there would be many veterans committing suicide and much more domestic violence. There are so many veterans just left to die and because of DR Sanders they have a new lease on life.
Dr. Chuck freely gives his knowledge and experience to help vets receive the services that they deserve and need
Chuck and Maria, are a force like no other. I send folks to them and they drop everything to help the Vet’s and their Ohana, why it even trickles down to the family pets. Don’t be shy give em a try. AKA, Mama Kaina. Happy, Honorable Veterens Day! Love and endless respect.
I wish to personally Thank each and everyone that has supported my efforts to help others! I pray God as you may know will touch your hearts and have you dig deep in those pockets to help us continue to help others. As the time get tougher, the problems get worse, and we have no income to fall back on, only your heart felt donations! Remember we are a non-profit 501 c 3 and any and everything you donate will be tax exempt!
With all my love, Respect, and appreciation,
Chuck
