My wife and I are vendors at the Farmers market in Hilo on Saturdays and the Maku’u market in Puna on Sundays. We have been vendors for seven years now. There is something special about shopping at the markets that people who just shop at the stores will never experience. There is the personable service and conversation with the local people that will never take place in the stores. The vendors are hard working people and very caring personable individuals. We sell coffee to the shoppers at Maku’u market at 1.00 a 12 ounce cup with free refills, we may not make a lot of money but it is a much appreciated service. We also sell our knives local wood work and clothes at more then reasonable prices, remember we have to deal with the local economy, and we are located on the Hawaiian Homestead lands in Puna just before the Pahoa town. It is hands down the most enjoyable and diversified experience you will have at any of the other markets. The Makuu Farmers Market Association has put in many hard hours to make this market what it is today, starting from the humble beginnings it did. Don’t allow yourself to fail to experiecs the true Aloha you will find at the Maku’u Market on Sunday mornings, and stop in and say Hi! to us over in the Big Tent with the freshly brewed coffee, knives, books, clothes, and local wood work, not to mention our vibrant personality!
There is always entertainment and local foods at very affordable prices.
THe Maku’u Farmers market located in Puna on the Keaau/Pahoa highway is an awesome market. It is very diversified and you can find garage sale type items, food, jams, and many other items. We sale coffee at 1.00 a cup with free refill, knives for hunting and display as well as Tye Dyes.
Come join us food, fun and items you thought you could live without until you see it at the Farmers market. I look forward to seeing you there, just look for the coffee gal and the knife guy under the big tent.
i would really like info on who to contact about the kealekakua farmers market. i would like to sell my coffee.
thanks so much,
Jaime
Aloha Jaime – We’re not aware of a farmers market in Kealakekua Bay – there’s one in South Kona – if you go to any farmer’s market just ask someone who to contact – often it varies. All the vendors are super helpful. Thanks for your question and best success. Also please submit Kona Homestead Coffee on our listings page so we can write about you and help get the word out. http://www.reallyhawaiian.com/huli2/get-reviewed/
