Ron works with local artists, to photograph and reproduce paintings and drawings, and print high quality, individually fine tuned photographs for local photographers selling fine art, portraits and wedding photography. He also restores and reproduce vintage photos, does graphic design, and creates original art of his own.

“I chose to move here because of my love of the place, not because this is a place to get rich or famous. I was seeking a saner, more grounded lifestyle than what I had made for myself in the San Francisco Bay Area. I now work from a home studio in Holoualoa, on the Big Island”. The desire to create something different, that is more lasting, valuable to society, and environmentally friendly played an important role in my decision to move here. I have made a conscious decision to use water based, pigmented inks and as many sustainable papers and fabrics as possible with my printing. Out of the twenty or so materials I print on, only one is made with any wood pulp content. I’ve introduced papers made from sugar cane, bamboo and recycled cotton to the art market here, and try to leave as light a footprint as possible on the island and our planet. Some people these days are motivated by the trendiness of green marketing, but I do it because I’ve been a resource hog for too long and have made a conscious decision to change my ways for my own reasons.

The Big Island art community seems to have a need for someone willing to offer quality, attention to detail, and unique materials at a reasonable price and I feel like I fit that description. I feel lucky to be able to call this place home, and hope to support the arts and community at large here in a symbiotic relationship”.
