Fishermen’s Choice
Artist and Designer Gary Arakaki established the company ‘Fishermen’s Choice’ in 1993. His love for the sport of fishing turned into an obsession for prized game fish such as the Ulua, Moi, Uhu, Mu and Kumu.
He visioned fishes to display on t-shirts. He first started to hand paint designs using Tri-Chem inks taught by Billy Ching of Kaneohe (Oahu). He later sold his t-shirts of hand painted fish designs at craft fairs around Oahu. Of course hand painted t-shirts are time consuming and difficult in consistancy. He later progressed to designing on the computer and his art work transformed to the art of screen printing.
