It’s Apelila!

Spring is in the air.  It’s Apelila ~ and before we knew it this months edition of everything made in Hawaii filled up quickly with lots of terrific things.  Heck, every month are great finds – that’s pretty obvious.  We trust you will find this month also packed with joy, laughter, life and everything Really Hawaiian.

What we love the most about our research for ReallyHawaiian.com is meeting the people behind the great finds.  The Made in Hawaii ‘ohana is a select group. Just being here rewards many with a creative spirit. And while the life of an entrepreneur in Hawaii is not always paved with cool lava, the challenges are made less frightening thanks in part to our island communities of really Hawaiian purveyors.  It’s a close group ~ watching out for one another and encouraging new comers.

We find that everyone in this elite group has a unique story, but really no different from the last.  They all started out as dreamers, playing endless games of “what if.”  What if I grew lavender on the hills of Maui?  What if I picked up sea glass on my beach walks and made jewelry with it?  What if I painted that sunset off Waikiki?  And then, what if I packaged that lavender, and made jewelry for others, and sold that painting?  Hey, what if I made a little money by selling my creations?

Those what if’s lead to a plan, the plan lead to action, those actions lead to results and well, now those dreamers are living their dream and keeping the, right here in Hawaii. What makes the dreamers behind our finds so unique is the heritage of their products and services; the natural resources of the Hawaiian Islands.

This month we encourage and inspire those with a dream of creating a product or service here in Hawaii.  Follow through with your dreams whether it be cool purses made from Kona coffee burlap bags, to re-establishing a 100-year-old family coffee plantation, and sea glass jewelry found washed up on Hawaiian shorelines to exquisitely carved koa.  Dream your dream, get your attitude on, create a plan, put it into action and see results.

Oh, and be sure to tell us all about your plans so we can be the first to introduce you to our thousands of dedicated folks who believe in everything Really Hawaiian.  And to all of our readers,  MAHALO for supporting products and services really made in Hawaii – Really Hawaiian.

A hui ho and malama pono ~
