Letter from the Editor

Aloha and welcome to Malaki! 90 days since the 1st of the year, 2010. This month we report on some fabulous, crazy good finds.  Every single one is a gem.  I continue to be impressed by the growing number of new ideas popping up on the islands in Hawaii.  The best time to launch a new idea is now, while the recession is lingering grow your idea, get it into position and be the strongest in your market when the economy returns, position your product / company as the leader in your field.  Oh, and don’t quit your day job until it’s time (you start making money).

This month we discovered BarbArt from Molaki, a whimsical thinker who is one happy and very creative artist, surrounded and content with everything around her.   And while touring Big Island fairs, we found several super super finds.  Here we go … Deb from Aquahine is another artist feeling her creative spirit easily through her lovely sea glass jewelry … Jamie Gilmore, her vision of the Hawaiian botanical landscape is in our humble opinion, faaaaabulous … The Coconut Lady, Patty – If you like coconut, you’re going to love her coconut candy … Sugai’s Gifts of Hawaii their name says it all and everything they make is a gift from the Island especially their magical daughter Mardani … a delicious newcomer to the product world is Big Island Biscotti - 100% Hawaiian yet sublime as a French confection and perfect with coffee …  Other finds include  … Lanikai Bath & Body on Maui, we use their dogie shampoo – Honey enjoys it so we though you would too (for your animals that is) … Sasaki Bags, we found Barb on FaceBook – go figure -  for real tho, her hand made DIVA bags are unique, must haves and hand made in Hawaii with love … Last month we brought you KonaRed – the newest hottest health drink – well here’s another first – a new health care anti-aging beauty cream from Malie Organics using the same remarkable coffee bean extract …  At the last second during production for this months’ edition, Susie Anderson, a well known artist from Oahu sent us her information and we’re sure glad she did …  Old Hawaiian Coffee has been in our backyard for a while so it’s nice to finally introduce you to this 100% organic coffee farm that dates back to the first days of growing coffee on the Big Island … Big Island Candies – everything they make is scrumptious, buy one for a gift and one for yourself, that’s how we rationalize our purchases … and now for a word from our puppy Honey-Girl … Nose for Adventure is a new and growing animal service company (pet adventures, walks and taxi services) – from donating time to rehabilitate dogs in order to give them a 2nd chance, to teaching puppies like Honey how to behave  … “good girl.”  GOOD Nose for Adventure!  Treat time … ReallyHawaiian.com
