The Orchid People have been growing orchids for a very long time, and a few of their orchids are older than they are! With their unique “artisan” cymbidium orchids, they produce orchids that are both brilliant in color and grown in variety of shapes and sizes, hence the name “artisan”. It takes time and experience to search out the most unusual keiki (young) orchids from around the world, bring them to Hawaii and nurture them in the Hawaiian soil and sun, growing into some of the most beautiful orchids to be found in Hawaii. The process can take from 3 to 4 years before they flower.
“Growing orchids since the age of 9, cymbidiums are part of our ‘ohana” and “they grow so easily here, in the direct sun and require very little energy. It’s all natural.” They sell to the public at the weekly Farmer’s Market in Waimea (Kamuela, Big Island) when the orchids are in bloom (September – May). They take phone order for special occasions and they have a special discount plan with FedX which makes shipping easy.
