Great Place for a Ship Wreck!

Swanson Island ~ Jetsons meet the Robinson Caruso is the best way to present the theme of things on Swanson Island.  For sure this is the most colorful and exciting series of product artwork we’ve seen yet.  We met Kerri Swanson at the Made in Hawaii Festival, her booth was awash with bright colors and fun designs.  It was hard to keep eye contact while we were checking everything out.

Kerri and her husband Mark moved to Hawaii in 2004.  After Mark’s successful career in animation it was time to begin again, “and dedicate himself to the work he loves best, drawing and painting the joyful imagery of a hopeful happy world.”  After using some of Mark’s art on a few handbags, one thing lead to another, word spread, the handbags became a sell out, more ideas flowed and Swanson became an island.

It’s times like these when we’re back in the studio writing about great finds that we sadly remember we didn’t buy something from Swanson Island because we already had too much in our arms.  Right now I wish I had bigger arms.  No worries tho – their website is great – easy to use – tells the whole story and lets us sit back and admire each and every item slowly ‘ cause there’s a lot to take in.  Each and every single item is  printed individually by hand and stitched by local seamstresses in Wailua, Hawaii.  Did someone say “that’s Really Hawaiian?”

There’s a secret here.  Besides all the lovely products, Mark is offering limited editions of his fine art available for sale.  You’ll find yourself in another world admiring these pieces with a Don Tiki song going on in the background.
