Nature looking it’s best!
We noticed Richard Mortemore at the Made in Hawaii Festival as his fingers danced around the canvas with a very delicate brush. Calm as a cucumber as thousands of people walked behind him pausing to watch wildlife coming to life right before their eyes. For over 40 years Richard has been painting wildlife. And he’s perfected it to the point of amazement. The pictures of his work on our website are not doing justice at all to the up closer and personal look we got at the show in Oahu. It was a natural reflex to hover over the artwork examining the many details.
In his paintings the care he takes to place birds and animals in their natural habitat has brought his work to the attention of publications such as Wildlife Art News. His paintings are in private collections in 28 states and England. We’re happy to announce Mr. Mortemore is the director of the Keakealani Outdoor Education Center and soon to be the director of the popular Panaewa Raimforest Zoo and Mr. Mortemore has received a State of Hawaii Conservation Award for his work in Environmental Education for the children of Hawaii.
